Moto Cross GP At Pacific Raceway

Fall Moto GP Series 12-28-2013 04328 Dec 2013 Kent, WA – Moto Cross courses must have a lot of variety.  These Moto GP courses that get laid out do they can be a learning experience for even the pro riders.

Logs, dirt, gravel and even asphalt surfaces to grip with a knobby tire. Up, down and around with a little go thru this is the name of the game. Straghtaway speeds on the pavement are quite fast but that grip has the rider’s attention as they have to slow down enough to manuver and almost go back in the direction you came from.

At an estamated length of 3 miles according to MX manager Lance Smail the course was being lapped in around 7 minutes for the Pro riders. That’s a pretty good time considering that most of obstacles are somewhat of a trap if the right line is not taken thru it, and with thick mud it had to be the worst I;ve seen with those sand traps right up there also.

More of these events are set up for the New 2014 Year and if you are interested check out Pacific Raceways web site to see the dates and information.

Winter Practice Tree Race Series At Pacific Raceways

Pactree1-t52014 Dec 2013 Kent, WA – Dragracing by nature is just not how fast or quick you get to the finish line.

Heads up racing is what you see when watching them on TV. Brut horsepower is a major part of the process but that only pertains to the car, dragster, motorcycle, etc. The human part of all this all about “reaction time”. How close you hit the tree can be the differance between winning or losing.

Skill in this reaction time part is only gained by practice, practice, practice. This practice can be done with devices that are small and portable and allow you to sit in your ride as you would on the track and practice cutting a good light.

One of the devices is a whole tree to look at and a shifter button for actavating the tree. This portable device can be set up anyplace that has power. Given any chance to practice to a dragracer is given a serious look at, to keep that edge you may have gained during the race season. If you think you have good reaction time skills, check out the Winter Practice Tree Race Series At Pacific Raceways and come test yourself aginst the tree, and other racers.

Toys For Tots Toy Drive At Pacific Raceways

2013 NW Toys For Tots 12-8-2013 06108 Dec 2013 Kent, WA – For the 10th time Pacific Raceways has teamed with Lexus of Bellevue and the US Marines for a toy drive to help the Toys For Tots program. US Marine CPL Stuart Kranick for many years was on hand to unload cars and fill the boxes with those smaller toys. Bigfoods Cafe was a warm hot spot as the chilly temps brought many seeking something hot to drink or some hot food.

The parking lot filled to it’s max, and the parking spilled over onto the roadcourse, just like last year and that brought in more than 2400 cars to the toy drive and car show. As the word about the car show has spread over the years and now with social media it just keeps growing.

This increase is all the better for the toy drive as these entries bring many gifts for the cause. Now add to this for a small fee and signed waiver you can drive your ride around the 2.25mi. road course. It’s called “lead/follow” and is overseen by ProFormance Racing School’s instructors. More than 50 driver’s took this chance.

Spotted walking thru the throngs of people were two of the prettiest elected young ladies representing the city of Seattle. Miss Seattle and Miss Seattle’s Teen, in crowns and gowns, and they drew a crowd and many looks as the walked about. As this yearly event grows larger each year the Toys For Tots program benefits many in need this time of year.

Happy Holidays!

High Performance Sport Driving Day At Pacific Raceways

HPSDD 12-7-2013 48507 Dec 2013 Kent, WA – Winter has not offically arrive yet on the calender but the cold weather whiped across the rest of the country creating havoc.  It ended driving at any kind speed, try and it would not end well.

But that was not the case for this weeks HPSDD at Pacific Raceways. Yes it was cold; but the sun was shining over most of the track and it was dry. No snow or ice to contend with, just the cold temps and a slight breeze that created a wind chill that is quite biting if you were not dressed for it.

Nobody understood this better than the turn worker’s,  who were in and out of the sunshine as the day went by. The cold did not bother most of the drivers, as most of them were in cars that have heaters. Learning to drive when the temp is below freezing on any surface is a challenge of it’s own, and to go ahead and do it as fast as you can was a whole new deal.

Doing this type of driving at driving school is the best way to go. Located on the Pacific Raceways property is The ProFormance Racing School, and its instructors teach this control and safety to anyone who wishes to learn. Over the season of HPSDD series events the diverse weather has given many conditions from which to learn. Get more info by going to Pacific’s web site and clicking on the driving school’s icon.
