As track operators plan out their race dates a weather chart has to be part of the process. The conditions for the dates are important as the data is there from year’s past to go on. In the Northwest you can not count on the past. The weather, it can throw data right out the window. Such was the case this Saturday for the MX races at Pacific Raceways.
Rain,rain and more rain. At times pounding down with huge drops that had to sting a little as you motoed around the course. These elements had to be the worst most rider’s have experienced under race conditions. Anywhere that water could pool, it did, turning the track into “soup”. This issue scrambled the track crew to create ditch pathways to drain the water away from the track surface. For those rider’s who were not in the lead a coating of mud drenched whatever rain protection they had on and for those who were unlucky enough to land in the mud a pressure washer became the item of the moment.
