High Performance Sport Driving Day At Pacific Raceways

High Performance Sport Driving Day 11-9-2013 44209 Nov 2013 Kent, WA – The end of the drag racing season at Pacific Raceways opened the road course to full use and the resumption of the HPSDD.  A wide range of entries took advantage of the chance to get back on track along with some who for the first time wanted to test their skills against the famed 2.25mi. surface.

Overseeing all the action was ProFormance Racing School’s Don Kitch Jr.Don and the other instructors did what they do best, teach.

Covering the corners the Lost Mines Safety Team kept everyone safe around the track and the weather did it’s part by keeping the rain away. The smiles on the face’s told the story, it was a great day at Pacific Raceway.

Images of all the cars are now available – click here to make purchases.

Last Race Of The 2013 At Pacific Raceways

Gambler Race 10-20-2013 103“Dew Point” in the dictionary says “vapor condenses into liquid”. Things at the track went form a little bit wet 24 hrs ago to “did it rain last night”?

By all appearances it sure looked the part. This weather issue put the track into a scramble to dry the track and shutdown surface.  There was no fog to deal as it still hung just above the tree line,  so everyone could at least see what needed to be done.

Success finally – a dry racing surface got the day underway though at a much later time than “normal”, and the race came with a firm curfew of  5:00pm.

The drag strip team got busy with the task ahead of them,  and with time to spare they got the race done ahead of the curfew. Only two winner”s this day on record but the real winners were those who can say “I raced in the last race of the season”.

Images from the last race of the season are now available – to go to the album, click here.

WINNERS

The Non-Electronics class had Greg Steen topping the wheelstanding car of Shawn Blair

In the Electronics class Terry Wilcox swept the weekend this time stopping Fred Hoffman

A Gambler Weekend At Pacific Raceways – Oct 5 & 6th, 2013

Gambler Race 10-5-2013 327You could not ask for a better weekend for racing. Cool and crisp mornings and sunny skies all day. With afternoon temps hovering around 70′  and premium track prep got quite a few front ends in the air a little more than normal. Conditions like this create quite a buzz among the racers on how fun it is. Checking their incrementals brought big smiles to their faces as they wrote the info into the run log book. Those who were attended Saturday’s race were treated to the “director and producer” of a locally done movie called “Clutch The Movie”. Quite fascinating listening to the conversations they were having around their display area. Check them out at–“clutchthemovie.com”. Over the two days of racing, many laps were had by those who chose to do so, and a chance to “test and tune” for the upcoming events at the tracks down south. Here are your weekend winner’s:

Almost 1,000 images are available – click here to view and make purchases.

Saturday:
Box: Kevin Rennick picked up the win when Mr. Theofelis fouled

No- Box: Greg Steen outlasted a large field only to get the win when Robert Steffen fouled

Sunday:

Washington State MX Series At Pacific Raceways – September 28th & 29th, 2013

Washington State MX Series Saturday 9-28-2013 834As track operators plan out their race dates a weather chart has to be part of the process. The conditions for the dates are important as the data is there from year’s past to go on. In the Northwest you can not count on the past. The weather, it can throw data right out the window. Such was the case this Saturday for the MX races at Pacific Raceways.

Rain, rain and more rain. At times pounding down with huge drops that had to sting a little as you motoed around the course. These elements had to be the worst most rider’s have experienced under race conditions. Anywhere that water could pool, it did, turning the track into “soup”. This issue scrambled the track crew to create ditch pathways to drain the water away from the track surface. For those rider’s who were not in the lead a coating of mud drenched whatever rain protection they had on and for those who were unlucky enough to land in the mud a pressure washer became the item of the moment.

Almost 1,000 images are now available, some of the muddiest, and coolest “wet” shots ever taken at Pacific Raceways.  There are two albums – One for Saturday, and one for Sunday.  Click on the links below to go to the album you wish.

2013 Division Six ET Finals At Spokane County Raceway

E.T. Finals Sunday -015As the post-race cleanup is well underway, there is time to reflect on the past four days at the E.T. Finals.

Most all the time there is something that has the attention of those attending the event, this year was no exception, only the attention went many directions. Spokane County Raceway for the first time hosting an E.T. Finals to start with. Many track owners and operators complemented the track management on it’s wonderful preparation for the event.

With the car count tickling 600 it’s a feat for any host to manage let alone it’s first. Well done I say. The next notable happened in the ROC motorcycle/sled class. Last year’s champ Jeff Havens was going for a repeat win and had to race his son Jacob. The two track champ’s went after the track as any other race. At the finish line the difference was just a few inches, with Jeff the repeat champion, father over son. Over the weekend though overall ‘Jake was the better rider’..  “I just happened to win one”  commented Jeff. It was a classic moment if there ever was one. Each win by a driver gained a point for the track that they represent, crowning a winner with the most.

This “point” system starts at zero each day giving two different winner’s on “points” earned that day. Looking at the wins over the two day’s though points to one track that racked up the wins and at the right moment. Wins in, Sportsman, High School and Jr. Lightning in the ROC and 17 more wins overall then the next track, Bremerton Raceway had to be the big winner over the weekend. Next year Woodburn, see you there.

Over 1,000 images spread over three days and in three photo galleries are now available.  Click here to go to the main gallery, then click on all three days photos to view them all.
