MX Practice At Pacific Raceways

MX Practice 5-7-2014 14707 May 2014 Kent, WA – The first real Wednesday night MX practice of the season (the first canceled to weather) brought a bunch to enjoy the sunny weather and a chance to practice on the new layout put together by Lance Smail and his crew.

With more improvements planned all the laps you can get can only help, though the laps by the better riders were pretty quick. This in itself shows how well the layout is working. Friday Night racing should be pretty intense. Come on out on Wed. or Fri. or both to check out the fast action.

SOVREN Spring Sprints At Pacific Raceway

SOVREN 26304 May 2014 Kent, WA – In what could be called their home track Seattle based SOVREN made their first visit of the season to Pacific Raceways 2.25 mile road course.

This brings some very vintage race cars to test them and their drivers to race for points towards a possible championship season. Under perfect weather conditions some of these race cars can fly, though this weekend “Mother Nature” and her cohort “Murphy’s Law” tested everyone involved.

On and off rain sometimes in “buckets” kept the track surface soaked and brought the lap times way down from normal. This fact pushed some of the racer’s to err on the side of caution and not “test” the laws of nature in these conditions and they left early, and that fact caused a change in plans for the SOVREN officials.

Officials got together with the racers and formed a plan for a shortened race day. Putting safety first, no sense in risking vintage cars to the weather. Visit SOVREN.org for info on results and upcoming events.

Over 1,100 images of all the action are now available for purchase – click here to go to them.

MX Friday Nite Series At Pacific Raceway

SOVREN 68602 May 2014 Kent, WA – Being a multi-use venue Pacific Raceways did just that Friday with the road course and the MX track operating for a while at the same time. It was smooth running all night though and it was all about the opening night of the Friday Night MX series.

Once onto the property you quickly noticed the parking has been improved, making for better access for the rider’s rigs. The next and big thing is the track layout. In an ever evolving bunch of improvements MX manager Lance Smail and his crew has been busy moving dirt and in the process created a viewing area for the spectators.

After going thru an end-to-end shipping container and to a fenced elevated mound you can see the entire track no matter where the rider is on the course – impressive to say the least! With more improvements coming, you can bet on a challenging track and better comfort for the spectators. Stay tuned.

Swift Tools ET Drag Racing Series #1 At Pacific Raceways

Swift Tool E.T. Race #1 4-26-2014 76726 Apr 2014 Kent, WA – The Swift Tool E.T. Series for 2014 saw more than 130 entries for the first race. Mother Nature did her best to throw a wrench into the day with an overnight soaking, but the swift work needed to dry the track was taken care of by the great work by the track crew.

Speeding through time trials shows quickly the great prep and attention to what the sun will do to the track surface. This made the rounds of racing go by seemingly too fast as the finals were upon us before you knew it. Getting an early lead in points for race #1 are as follows:

Motorcycle: In a battle of past champs in a double break-out race Jake Havens the current champion stopped 2012 winner Joe Lind.

Sportsman: With his 54′ Ford Skyliner Jason Biscay beat #1 qualifier. Jasin Bravo.

PRO:  A pair of Bremerton racer’s took to the finals with Jack Ward running closer to his dial to take the win over Robert Steffen.

SUPER PRO: Martin Dykstra took his fine looking 27′ roadster to a win when William Vest was a little eager in his new wagon and put the “red light” on.

These winner’s and the rest of the racer’s may have to wait as race #2 set for the next day may fall to “Mother Nature”.

Easter Bunny Nationals At Bremerton Raceway

Easter Bunny Nationals 4-20-2014 57420 Apr 2014 Bremerton, WA – Easter Sunday morning had cars, trailers, and haulers filling the gate to get their chance to race at the annual Easter Bunny Nationals at Bremerton Raceway.

All eight classes had entries, Jr. Storm to Super Pro with more than 100 totaling the classes together. This is also the second race in Bremerton’s E.T. Series points race – so points were up for grabs.

Spotted on the grounds a white walking rabbit passing out candy. Heard around the pits was the fact that the weather had corrected readings of high humidity and below sea level elevations. That did not last long as the sun started breaking thru the cloud cover drying and warming the track, and the bit of wind had a bite to it.

Lots of images from the event – even a few of that white rabbit – click here.

Last Test-N-Tune At Pacific Raceways

Test and Tune 4-19-2014 06119 Apr 2014 Kent, WA – The last test and tune before the start of the 2014 ET Racing Season was short lived. About two hours of dry track time was all the racer’s had before mother nature abruptly put an end to the “dry” racing surface.

With the Swift Tool Series starting next weekend those who got runs in will have a head start on information to go into their log books. The information gained will be used during the season and we’re just about to get underway to find those 2014 class champions and a new picture on the “Wall of Champion’s”.  Good Luck to all this season.

Honda Fest Northwest At Pacific Raceways

Honda Fest Northwest 4-13-2014 12813 Apr 2014 Kent, WA – Honda’s a plenty showed up to take advantage of the beautiful spring Sunday. With activities from car show to a lead-follow around the 2.25mi. road course and some screaming action down the drag strip gave those spectators in the stands and on the show grounds lots to see.

The calendar says Honda Fest but they also brought some of their friends, Corvette, Mustang, Mini Cooper, Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Suzuki. Yes – the Motocross track also had a track full of rider’s taking in the sunshine and new layout on the MX track.  The guy’s and gal’s thrive on flying and throwing dirt behind them.

Granted, there were far more Honda’s on the drag strip then on the MX track but in the end it’s all about friends having fun together.

Images of all the Hondas and friends are now available – click here to get your copies.
