20th Annual Nostalgia Drags At Bremerton Raceway

20th Annual Nostalgia Drags Sunday 8-24-14 28024 Aug 2014 Bremerton, WA – A weekend full of old time race cars packed the grounds with racers and spectators. “Chicago Style” racing at its best.

Fog crowded the grounds first thing, though as the morning went on the skies opened up to bright sunshine for all to enjoy. No matter what early iron you chose there was a class in the Nostalgia series to run in. 20 seconds to 6 seconds, and a lot in-between to fit you in.

Total trailers are the norm though some do drive them to the track. You’ve got one or know someone with a “barn” find that fits, put it together and bring it out for old time fun. Toss in a Car Club and Super Comp race and the spectators saw non-stop racing of all kinds. Check Bremerton’s web-site for info.

Car Club #6 & Test-N-Tune At Pacific Raceways

Car Club #6 and TnT 8-22-14 05522 Aug 2014 Kent, WA – The last Car Club of the season had wonderful weather for racing, and a crowd of racer’s wanting that last win. As in past events the range of racer rides is directly related to their own personality. Most all are daily drivers with just a few on a trailer.

This final race saw a car and truck square off in the final in a double break-out race with Maring Milsted in his 2001 Lightning getting the win over the 1968 Camaro of Don Berry.

Urban Custom Bikes & High School Drags At Pacific Raceways

Urban Custom Bikes and High School Drags 8-20-14 26620 Aug 2014 Kent, WA – Custom bikes, drag bikes, new cars, old cars. The range of racers rides in the High School and Urban Custom Bikes series at Pacific Raceways for a mid-week race night was large.

The last race for both and a better look for next season were in store for the bikes. The first season as a sponsor for Urban Custom Bikes was great, and they had a blast and are already looking forward to next year.

Five rounds of racing saw Chris Benda and John Plaster square off with John using a better reaction time edging Chris in a close one at the finish line.

The high schoolers pitted the girls against one lone guy, though the guy is connected to the to the very good Biscay girls. It was a gift or lucky brake work at the finish line for Peyton Biscay, as this race as in time trials something let go on her burnout putting fluid in the box stopping the run, for the moment.

Luck or what then allowed her to single to the finals and meet up with Jessica Biscay. The headline here could read “Breakout gives trophy to broken axle”. A 21.857 ET at 44.68 mph burning rubber on the left tire saw Peyton got the win as Jessica ran too fast.

Muscle Car VS Tuner At Pacific Raceways

Muscle vs Tuner 8-10-14 47510 Aug 2014 Kent, WA – Cut a V8 muscle car in half and let the tuning begin. Carbs and eight pistons vs. four pistons, fuel injection and turbos pitted against each other in a race to the finish.

Cole Marmon and his record setting Speed Factory 99 Civic has to be the tops in the tuner class with Bryan Schmitt in his Worthy built dragster for the Muscle side. 75 racers tried to get to the top with the imports getting an early edge in the first round, though by round four a lone tuner lived in the muscle mix.

A couple rounds later the finals brought that lone tuner vs. the last muscle. In a twist to what many would think of a final being a car vs. car. Not so here as Jim Werre on his motorcycle kept the consistent E.T.’s to down the V8 racer in the other lane.

For the Muscle car crowed the 65 Malibu of Dave Connor prevailed pitting him against the bike. At the finish line a better R/T and a closer to dial put Jim in the winner’s circle.

Employee Drags At Pacific Raceways

Employee Drags 8-6-14 047 06 Aug 2014 Kent, WA – All season long the Pacific Raceways track workers have watched over the racers going down the strip. This day it was their turn to race on the track. Personal daily drivers are the choice with a motorcycle and a true race car seeing what they can do against each other.

More for fun and a relaxed time with each other but when the green light comes on its game on, no different than when racer’s are going down the track.

An almost perfect .001 reaction time in the second round put the real race car on the trailer and set her on the way to the winner’s trophy. The finals pitted Shawna Carey against Hannah Lemon. Knowing the light’s being cut Shawna pushed the tree and gave the win to Hannah with her .017 red light.

Check out the photo album for your copies of images from the event.

Northwest Nationals Sunday D-300 8-3-14 13603 Aug 2014 Kent, WA – For the 27th time the NHRA brought the National tour to Seattle. Hot weather with a brief delay on Friday for some sprinkles brought the fans to the seats to watch the fastest sport on wheels.

Those who attended all three days saw non-stop action with sub four second times with speeds hovering around 320 mph. From the Top Fuel class to the 10.90’s in the Super Street class for the sportsman racers, there were eleven classes contending for the coveted “Wally” trophy, which brings many racer’s to the strip for a chance at a very hard to get trophy from a National event.
