Season Final – National Dragster Challenge At Bremerton Raceway

Season Final - National Dragster Challange 10-13-2013 59313 Oct 2013 Bremerton Raceway – Dew Point, a weather action that leaves water droplets everywhere, the moisture literally falls out of the air.

Jr Dragster #13 – CC #5 & Westbay #5 At Bremerton Raceway

Jr # 13 - CCC # 5 - Westbay # 5 9-21-2013 007With the season drawing close to the end of racing the points earned are producing some very close standings and in some cases there are ties in the point standings. This will bring to the fore front the importance of the last race of the season to earn points, especially those that are tied up in the points race. Look up the standings on the website to see if you are in a tied up position as some may not know.

2013 Division Six ET Finals At Spokane County Raceway

E.T. Finals Sunday -015As the post-race cleanup is well underway, there is time to reflect on the past four days at the E.T. Finals.

Most all the time there is something that has the attention of those attending the event, this year was no exception, only the attention went many directions. Spokane County Raceway for the first time hosting an E.T. Finals to start with. Many track owners and operators complemented the track management on it’s wonderful preparation for the event.

With the car count tickling 600 it’s a feat for any host to manage let alone it’s first. Well done I say. The next notable happened in the ROC motorcycle/sled class. Last year’s champ Jeff Havens was going for a repeat win and had to race his son Jacob. The two track champ’s went after the track as any other race. At the finish line the difference was just a few inches, with Jeff the repeat champion, father over son. Over the weekend though overall ‘Jake was the better rider’..  “I just happened to win one”  commented Jeff. It was a classic moment if there ever was one. Each win by a driver gained a point for the track that they represent, crowning a winner with the most.

This “point” system starts at zero each day giving two different winner’s on “points” earned that day. Looking at the wins over the two day’s though points to one track that racked up the wins and at the right moment. Wins in, Sportsman, High School and Jr. Lightning in the ROC and 17 more wins overall then the next track, Bremerton Raceway had to be the big winner over the weekend. Next year Woodburn, see you there.

Over 1,000 images spread over three days and in three photo galleries are now available.  Click here to go to the main gallery, then click on all three days photos to view them all.

19th Annual Nostalgia Drags At Bremerton Raceway

19th Annual Nostalgia Drags Sunday 8-25-2013 14525 Aug 2013 Kent, WA – Eighteen times 1980 and older race cars have excited those who came to race and watch. The full list of classes saw quite a range of older race cars, with the exception of the “Super Shifter” class who are allowed any “stick” transmission. The Pro Nostalgia class really shows what racing was like back in the day. A car show on Saturday and a weekend showing of “Hot Wheels” based display by Ron McDowell gathered a lot of interest and comments.

Over 400 really cool old-school images are now available.  Click here to go directly to the photo album.

Power Outage Ends Day Early At Bremerton Raceway

K&N E.T. # 9 and NW Headsup # 7 7-21-2013 442The dictionary discribes Murphy’s Law as “a facetious or satirical proposition stating that if there is a possibility for something to go wrong, it will go wrong”. Such was the case for Sunday’s race’s at Bremerton. Thick fog slowed the start of racing for obvious reasons, then during time runs a racer got out of the groove and took out a cone. Time to replace the equiptment, not long it time but none the least, lost time. Time runs resume with things going well when all of a sudden a racer blows a seal in the tranny and coats the track from ‘half track’ past the finish. This time consuming cleanup chopped the rest of the time runs. This forced the jump directly into eliminations. Pro class driver’s up first, progressing thru the entrents things going well, then a “power surge” stopped the “tree” just as the third bulb was to light. The racer’s not knowing what happened ran their race. Knowing what happened “race control” called for a re-race. Now came “the straw that broke the camel’s back”. Seem’s like a “transformer” in the power grid decided to “fail” taking all the power to the track with it. END OF RACING. See how Murphy works?

There are however over 400 great shots of all the racing action before the power went out.  Click here to go to the photo album.

Junior Dragster #11 & Car Club #5 At Bremerton Raceway

Jr.Dragster # 11 and Car Club # 5 7-20-2013 119As the racers entered thru the gates their drive in was shrouded in fog, but the conditions for racing were looking up. Conditions for time runs in the morning were not going to be the same when elimanations started in the afternoon. Those cool conditions gave way to bright sunny skies and hotter tempatures to make the racer’s re-think their dial-in. Such is the help that a weather station gives to those racer’s that have them. Any edge that you can gain over your foe and still be within the rules is fair game. Do not know if these winner’s have that edge so here they are:
