National Dragster Challenge At Bremerton Raceway

Bremerton Raceway Saturday 5-2-15 18902 May 2015 Bremerton, WA – When the statues are on the line the racers come out. They are hard to get and when earned it is always displayed with pride. Yes there are those who have won many, and it shows that drive that it takes to get them. Many racers never win one in a lifetime of racing, but it never stopped them from trying.

Picking up the statue in the MC class is newly married William Nitta. A big class of Sportsman battled with Jason Biscay picking up another one. In a bigger number of entries the Pro final saw long time racer Ken Reaves getting the win. Jim Bruns and his ’69 Camaro raced to victory in Super Pro. Congrats to all the winners.

2015 Honda Fest At Pacific Raceways

HondaFest D-70 4-12-15 03512 Apr 2015 Kent, WA – It is all hands on deck as the HondaFest brought thousands of people to the Pacific Raceways property. Everyone on the payroll for Pacific was called in to handle the massive influx of people and their cars, some for show, some for the drags and those in their cars and a bike to take advantage of the lead/follow provided by ProFormance Racing School around the 2.25 mile road course.

Also on hand was BigFoods to help feed all these people – offering their choices of fine food and drink. Bringing all this together the folks at NWMotiv put together a great show, we cannot wait till next year as improving on a great show will take some thinking. See you then.

Over 900 images capture all the action – the show, the road course, drag racing etc.  Click here to follow to the album; we thank you for all your support of seeitimagery.com.

Easter Bunny Nationals At Bremerton Raceway

Easter Bunny Nationals 4-5-15 20205 Apr 2015 Bremerton, WA – Easter morning at Bremerton Raceway greeted everyone with bright sunshine and a chilly wind forcing everyone to put an extra layer of clothing on. After a noon lunch break the extra clothing was shed off and the weather turned things into a great day for racing.

This weekend racers and fans got a chance for a first look at the rearranged buildings at the track. All this started at the end of last season as developers are changing the landscape of the area around the track.

With a full schedule laid out for the season with what is known of the developer’s plans is quite an accomplishment with what was not known just a few short months ago.

Ending on top at the end of the race day were in Junior Thunder it was a Burkevics family final with Bobby over Charlie. In Jr. Lightning Yeshua Wilcox prevailed over Joshua Schmanke. A better light and closer to the dial got the win for Stacy Hesch over Jim Funderburg in the MC class. High School Had Jordin Howell winning over the Mustang of Thomas Neal III. Steve Adams and Brian Thompson paired off in the Sportsman class with Steve coming out on top. In the Pro class drivers Rob Lindley and Mike Hubbell squared off with Rob taking the win. The Super Pro saw a pair of heavyweights with Al Chinn and Norm Breadt going for the win. Division champ Norm tried though he could not stop Al from a doubling up on the weekend of racing at Bremerton Raceway.

Test & Tune At Pacific Raceways

Test and Tune 4-4-15 12804 Apr 2015 Kent, WA – Just when you think you are ready to go, you have to wait. Thus was the start of the test and tune. Track was all prepped, racers in the lanes, then Mother Nature started sprinkling! Start over getting the track ready as the rain subsided is nothing new to the dragstrip crew as this is the northwest after all. Once the sun came out and aided with the moisture removal the only water the rest of the test and tune was in the water box.

This gave those who watch their smart phones and the weather app the knowledge that the track was open and running thus bringing out a number of testers for the afternoon for chances at the track. You never know what the weather will be on any given day but if there is a chance to drive down the dragstrip; Pacific’s crew will have it safe and ready. Check the web site for the next date for testing.

ProFormance Racing School Lapping Day At Pacific Raceways

ProFormance Racing School Lapping Day 3-27-15 43228 Mar 2015 Kent, WA – Pacific Raceways is a multi-use facility with two of the parts intersecting with each other. To make use of both at the same time takes quite some coordination. This task was pulled off as if it has been done many times though I think this could have been a first.

General Manager John Ramsey and ProFormance Racing School owner Don Kitch put their heads together to utilize each other’s down time to let the dragstrip and the 2.25 mile road course run without interfering with each other. In doing so it allowed Speed Factory to test new equipment on their Honda’s for the upcoming season and for Jim Ronan to put his wheel stander thru some shakedown/practice runs.

Walking between the roughly 50 feet distance between the two camps dragstrip manager Ed Garfield had a turbo screaming four cylinder in his left ear and a blown 427 wheel stander thumping in his right, wish I could have captured the expression on his face, priceless.

Testing went on thru the day on the strip with the lapping cars getting a lot of track time with the in-between round time for the Honda’s. With the drag testing finished up Mother Nature started a misty sprinkle, perfect timing, as the drag strip was done.

This weather most all the time has no effect on the road racers as they lapped thru their session. The last session of the day though was a different story. The rain started light and progressively turned to a torrential downpour to the point that the track surface could not shed water fast enough creating one of the few things that will stop most all road racing. HYDROPLANING – End of session.

Both John and Don agreed that it went smooth and it can be done if needed again, me I like seeing it work.

Images of all the action are now available – make sure and check out some great shots of the Honda running in the sevens, and the wheel stander – over 700 images this week from the road course too.  Thanks for your support!

Test-N-Tune At Pacific Raceways

Test and Tune 3-7-15 38907 Mar 2015 Kent, WA – With the Practice Tree Series in the rear view mirror it’s time to concentrate on the tree at the track. Bright sunshine greeted nearly 200 entries for the first Test-N-Tune of the 2015 dragstrip season.

Two weeks of prep work by Pacific’s crew brought the track out of its winter sleep and to the “grip” the racers have come to enjoy as the consistency of their work makes “tuning” the car a bit easier. Those that have improved and upgraded their rides got instant information on how the new and improved surface will work, thanks to that prep work. Consistency is a great source of pride to the workers. To see the Speed Factory crew jump for joy and high fiving after an out of the box pass tickling records, was a testament to the track crew’s hard work.

Images of the first cars to go down the 1/4 mile for the 2015 season are now online – click here to go there.

The first Swift Tool race is set for May 9th 2015.  The date will come quickly and the races welcome the chance to test on their quest for a class championship.

The next Test-N-Tune is March 14 & 15th – see you then.

Winter Practice Tree Series #5 At Pacific Raceways

Winter Practice Tree Series #5 2-21-15 04121 Feb 2015 Kent, WA – Race # 5 in the Winter Practice Tree Race Series sponsored by Pacific Raceways and The Sports Page brought over 40 entries over the five race series events. Growing bigger each year and gaining new entries even in the last race shows how the interest in the series has grown, quite a gain from the start in Pacific’s tower a few years ago.

Growing exponentially also is the payoff at the end. The Sports Page owners Joe and Kathy Mahony put up a trip for two to Vegas with a pair of tickets to an NHRA National event laid out by Pacific Raceways. Pretty good bet combined how they will be used by the winner.

Speaking of the winner, he used a streak that at one point had a bounty taped to his back to gain a lead that would be hard to overcome by second place. His winning streak at the tree came to an end just shy of the finals though this day, and the smile on his face said it all. Joined by family for the last event Larry Emil received his winnings from The Sports Page owners with plans already in the works on when to use them. Congratulations to Larry and all those who came to play and see you for the next event.  Spring is coming!!

Winter Practice Tree Series #4 – Feb 7th, 2015

Winter Practice Tree Series #4 2-7-15 00707 Feb 2015 Kent, WA – When the practice tree series moved to The Sports Page the setup for the event has been the same thus far. Walking in tonight it was apparent right away that the setup had been changed. The sound of a live band hit you as you came thru the door. In all the past races this is a first.

Making this happen was the work of Jaysen Dickhoff with his very good friends “The Fabulous Johnsons” band. For Lynn, Manuel and Jeff this was their morning as they played the night before. Drinking a few cups of coffee drove away the night and it showed or I should say sounded well-polished, like a fast race car.

Running thru the rounds as the band took a break worked out well. Then while the ladder was being figured out the band played a few more songs and heckled Jaysen between them, something that old friends having fun will do.

Images of all the fun are now available – click here to go to the album.

See you for the last race Feb.21st and the crowning of the winner.

Winter Practice Tree #3 At Pacific Raceways

Winter Practice Tree Series #3 1-24-15 03624 Jan 2015 Kent, WA – Race number three in the five race Practice Tree Series brought out the racers for the mid-point event of the series. At this point the hardcore players are here, and competition is tough with a big prize for winner in the end.

The seriousness showed in the players. Being there for all of the five events gives you a very good chance in the end to come out on top. Then again your reaction time could get on a roll and you could end up like the “HAWKS”!

Come on out on Feb. 7th and enjoy the hospitality that The Sports Page provides.

Practice Tree Series Event Two

Practice Tree Series #2 1-17-15 05717 Jan 2015 Kent, WA – The first Practice Tree of the New Year brought out more racers to the event held at The Sports Page. The word is spreading of the fun and comradely had at the series event. Good food and drink and updates on the projects in the works had your attention while practicing up before the serious competition began.

No different than on the track, it was all friendly till the lights came on and the game was on. The big difference here is that many of the players will never race against each other on the track until the end of the season King of the Hill competition due to running in different classes.

Now toss in a few who do not race on the track but enjoy the competition – the practice tree event offers a lot – and to the finalists a fist full of colorful cloth.

With three events left in the series and a reaction fueled run you could pick up the championship. Check Pacific’s web site for next date and come out for some fun.
