Rain, Rain GO AWAY!

As luck would have it the scheduled racing on the drag strip as part of the NOS Forum Fest at Pacific Raceways was cancelled due to bad weather. However the car show and drifting competition went off as planned.

Let’s hope for better weather this weekend as the Northwest Historics are back for 2012 on the road course!

Just One Day

Originally the weekend at Pacific Raceway was to feature the normal Friday Night Test and Tune along with class eliminations for Jr. Dragster, Motorcycle and The Car Club Challenge and a Saturday night of the  hotly contested Auto Max Bracket Series. But once again Mother Nature intervened and a full weekend of Drag Racing turned into a one day “wonder” as only the Friday Night schedule got completed as the planned Auto Max event was cancelled due to weather.  Images of the action are available by clicking here.

We’re BAAACCCKKKK!

After what seemed like an eternity, drag racing finally resumed at legendary Pacific Raceways over the weekend. Racing was postponed to completely refurbish the first 300 feet of the racing surface with new concrete under the supervision of the National Hot Rod Association and great work by the Penhall Company.

Originally racing was to resume on Friday the 8th but Mother Nature would have none of that as rain showers cancelled the planned Grudge Drags featuring. qualifying for the West Coast Street Car Association.

Bright and early Saturday morning hundreds of racers and fans invaded the racetrack for a wild doubleheader featuring the Honda Tech Meet and the All High School Drags along with qualifying for the West Coast Street Car Association.

The All High School Drags were won by Mac West from Enumclaw driving his 67 Mustang. Runner Up was claimed by Blayne Zimmerman from Federal Way and his classic 67 VW Bug. Sunday was Race#5 in the Auto Max Bracket Series featured a near record car count along with further qualifying and eliminations for the drivers in the West Coast Street Car Association. Winners include:

High School Drags, WSCA, & Honda Tech Meet at Pacific Raceways

Bright and early Saturday morning hundreds of racers and fans invaded the racetrack for a wild doubleheader featuring the Honda Tech Meet and the All High School Drags along with qualifying for the West Coast Street Car Association.

The All High School Drags were won by Mac West from Enumclaw driving his 67 Mustang. Runner Up was claimed by Blayne Zimmerman from Federal Way and his classic 67 VW Bug. Third place went to Austin Lenihan from Redmond.

Northwest & Montana SCCA Regions combine to field “Rational” races!

Over the long Memorial Day weekend the SCCA Northwest and Montana regions combined to host the J. Tom Masterson Memorial in conjunction with their 32nd Annual Double “Rational” event including the popular vintage classes. The “Rational” title is derived from the event being both an SCCA Regional and SCCA National for points in six different classes or “groups”. 4th Annual IDRC Military Salute Grand Prix at Pacific Raceway

The 4th Annual Military Salute Grand Prix for the International Race Drivers Club (IRDC). Is the season opening event for the IRDC. More than 200 competitors raced over two days of heated competition in seven different classes. The racers once again had to overcome some adverse conditions on Sunday where wind and rain was quite a contrast to the near perfect 70 degree temperatures and sunshine they were treated to on Saturday. As usual BigFood  “the official food service vendor at Pacific Raceways” was on location serving a great barbeque menu.

SOVREN Spring Sprints – Season Debut Didn’t Disappoint

SOVREN, the Society Of Vintage Racing ENthusiasts, is a Seattle-based non-profit racing organization boasting over 400 members throughout Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Montana, and British Columbia who are owners and admirers of older sports cars with racing histories.  Their first race of the season held this past weekend at Pacific Raceways had good weather and great racing.
