LODRS – NHRA Division Six Weekend At Pacific Raceways

Div. 6 Sunday Race 8-18-2013 804At the beginning of the season, after the track dates are set, racers set out their season plans for race dates.

Seeing a chance to race for five days in a row has to be a big “alert” for  vacation from work. Such is the case for this years LORDS NHRA DIvision Six Series Event(s) at Pacific Raceways.

Looking around the property race teams were packed in at every possible spot. Wednesday’s Test ant Tune had many doing so. Mother Nature took away Thursday. to rain and pretty good downpours. Still four days of racing in good conditions is a good thing.

Packing two races in three days even under ideal conditions is quite the task. Good weather and great track prep gained three new records for the books. Northwest Division Six Director Frank Nelson Jr. and his crew did a masterful job of pulling it off.

Over two thousand images from all five days are now available.  The photos are broken down into several albums, by day, and by event.  To go there, click here.

Frank Hawley Driving School At Pacific Raceways – August 7th, 2013

Frank Hawley Driving School at Pacific Raceways 8-7-2013 05307 Aug 2013 Kent, WA –  ” WOW” is all I can really say! To have such a legend in the sport of drag racing bring his school to the Northwest is rare indeed. This the 8th stop on Frank Hawley’s  yearly plan to teach those that are interested in racing. To bring his school here has to show great interest in sportsman racing in the Pacific Northwest and the chance to be taught by the “best” in the business is a chance of a lifetime.

Just 13 students were given both classroom and enough track time to gain the license they were seeking. This small class size is kept that way so one-on-one teaching is the main focus. It started with a couple of hours of classroom on the safety and operation based the license the students were seeking. Then it was out for your first “run”.

Under Frank’s expert eyes and hearing he noted the good and bad of the student, then addressed it in the next classroom session. As you proceed thru the four basic run distances with complete control of the runs along with the classroom time you can earn your license signed and approved by Frank himself. I can’t think of a better person’s name on a document that lets you do something you love to do. The two men who work with Frank for the school track time portion at Pacific Raceways are quite noteworthy in their own right. Jimmy Montgomery and Sean Rutan take care of the students entering and exiting their rides.

The thorough preparation of each student to drive the race car is a very integral part of the school, though their duties are many this is the most important. As the interest grows and enough potential students inquire, could we see the school here next year? Hope so.

If you are interested in attending type “Frank Hawley” into your search engine and check them out. Next year it could be you experiencing the sport of drag racing, taught by the BEST IN THE BUSINESS.

There are two albums for this special event –

Frank Hawley Ride Along Day At Pacific Raceways

Frank Hawley Ridealongs at Pacific Raceways 7-31-2013 53731 Jul 2013 – Kent, WA – For the second year in a row Frank Hawley brought his operation to Pacific Raceways for a “ride along”  for elected officals and supporters of the track. Instructors Frank Hawley, Jack Beckman and Jimmy Montgomery wowed those who got the chance for a ride. “FastJack” Jack Beckman in the dragster with Frank and Jimmy piloting the “Firebirds” brought out extremely big smiles as those lucky enough exited their ride.

There are many racer’s across this land who have felt this sensation of quickness and speed, but they are “driving”. Take the wheel out of your hands and any control of the race car and it becomes a whole new ball game. Gear up with all required “safety equipment”, get buckled in, then just hang on. Even though you are “tightly” strapped in, you get to feel how much more you can be pushed into the seat. 99% of adults will never feel this, let alone be just a “rider” in a “race car”. That has to be the ultimate “thrill ride”.

Seeitimagery was on hand to record all the fun and excitement, there are over 550 images now available.  To view and purchase them, click here.

Goodguys Friday Night Drags At Pacific Raceways

Good Guys Friday Night Drags 7-26-2013 83026 July 2013 – Kent, WA Nineteen times throughout the USA the Goodguys make a stop to show off what was cool “back in the day”. For the 26th time here in the Seattle area the combination “car show” and “drags” hit the mark again. No weather issues in sight, a great day for racing, temps nearing eighty degrees with a slight breeze to make it comfortable for those watching in the stands.

Prime track prep tested those who dared test it, with a few not able. Older rods, some still in “original parts” did not have the “grip” off the line that is applied today. Put it back together and test it again next year when Good Guys returns next year. Check their web site www.good-guys.com on where they are headed to next and for sure when it comes out, next years dates.

Over 700 images of these cool nostalgic cars are now available – to go there, click here.
