Open Lapping Day At Pacific Raceways

17 Apr 2015 Kent, WA – Open lapping days do not come along too many times per season at Pacific Raceways and when they do many classes of racers/drivers come out and take advantage of the opportunity. From full-fledged race teams to the daily driver and a bunch of everything in-between can be seen squealing tires around the track.

Seat time in a controlled manner is hard to obtain without a track to do so on, the street is “NOT” the place to learn this type of driving. Stay tuned to Pacific’s web site for another one of these dates.

16 Apr 2015 Kent, WA – People who follow the endurance racing events through-out their racing season know the winners. Who doesn’t want to be schooled by a winner?

Come out and learn from the 12 hours of Sebring class winner Team Seattle and Don Kitch with his staff of instructors at the ProFormance Racing School here at Pacific Raceways. They will school you through the proper way to drive your ride around Pacific’s 2.25 mile road course which you can then translate to driving at other tracks if that is your long term plans. 2015 Honda Fest At Pacific Raceways

12 Apr 2015 Kent, WA – It is all hands on deck as the HondaFest brought thousands of people to the Pacific Raceways property. Everyone on the payroll for Pacific was called in to handle the massive influx of people and their cars, some for show, some for the drags and those in their cars and a bike to take advantage of the lead/follow provided by ProFormance Racing School around the 2.25 mile road course.

Also on hand was BigFoods to help feed all these people – offering their choices of fine food and drink. Bringing all this together the folks at NWMotiv put together a great show, we cannot wait till next year as improving on a great show will take some thinking. See you then.

Test & Tune At Pacific Raceways

04 Apr 2015 Kent, WA – Just when you think you are ready to go, you have to wait. Thus was the start of the test and tune. Track was all prepped, racers in the lanes, then Mother Nature started sprinkling! Start over getting the track ready as the rain subsided is nothing new to the dragstrip crew as this is the northwest after all. Once the sun came out and aided with the moisture removal the only water the rest of the test and tune was in the water box.

This gave those who watch their smart phones and the weather app the knowledge that the track was open and running thus bringing out a number of testers for the afternoon for chances at the track. You never know what the weather will be on any given day but if there is a chance to drive down the dragstrip; Pacific’s crew will have it safe and ready. ProFormance Racing School Lapping Day At Pacific Raceways

28 Mar 2015 Kent, WA – Pacific Raceways is a multi-use facility with two of the parts intersecting with each other. To make use of both at the same time takes quite some coordination. This task was pulled off as if it has been done many times though I think this could have been a first.

General Manager John Ramsey and ProFormance Racing School owner Don Kitch put their heads together to utilize each other’s down time to let the dragstrip and the 2.25 mile road course run without interfering with each other. In doing so it allowed Speed Factory to test new equipment on their Honda’s for the upcoming season and for Jim Ronan to put his wheel stander thru some shakedown/practice runs.

Walking between the roughly 50 feet distance between the two camps dragstrip manager Ed Garfield had a turbo screaming four cylinder in his left ear and a blown 427 wheel stander thumping in his right, wish I could have captured the expression on his face, priceless.

Testing went on thru the day on the strip with the lapping cars getting a lot of track time with the in-between round time for the Honda’s. With the drag testing finished up Mother Nature started a misty sprinkle, perfect timing, as the drag strip was done.

This weather most all the time has no effect on the road racers as they lapped thru their session. The last session of the day though was a different story. The rain started light and progressively turned to a torrential downpour to the point that the track surface could not shed water fast enough creating one of the few things that will stop most all road racing. HYDROPLANING – End of session.

Both John and Don agreed that it went smooth and it can be done if needed again, me I like seeing it work.

ProFormance Racing School At Pacific Raceways

27 Mar 2015 Kent, WA – Spread out over two 12 hour days, once you complete these sessions they will put you out the door with the SCCA paperwork that allows you to participate anywhere in the US at an SCCA event.

It’s a complete start-to-finish program put together by Don Kitch and his extremely skilled instructors that will take you from classroom to racing in less than 24 hours. Photographing the driver’s over the two days showed the progression of the eight students in the class. But the real progression is “heard”.

The cars in the ProFormance stable are so evenly matched that blindfolded you could not tell what number it is. This fact is a prime factor to the instructors as the sounds you hear are directly connected to what the cars are doing. Smart instructors! Really, if you have any thoughts or dreams of racing on a road course then you have to go through this program.

High Performance Sport Driving Day – Final Day of Winter Series

21 Mar 2015 Kent, WA – A couple of days into spring brings the winter series of sport driving days on Pacific Raceways legendary 2.25 mile road course to an end.

Better than 60 cars came out and test against mother- nature and her relentless rain. Throwing rain water at most all speeds, windshield wipers were working overtime trying to keep up with the downpour. Like most areas just wait awhile and the weather will change, and it did. The sun came bursting out from the clouds and the track surface dried to the point that a “Slick” tired car was able to put down some decent laps.

High Performance Sport Driving Day – March 18th, 2015

18 Mar 2015 Kent, WA – The Mid-week ProFormance school got underway with no rain in sight. No better way to go thru the school and then apply to a “dry” surface what the instructors are putting to you. The twists and turn around the 2.25 mile track has a “line” to follow to make the fastest times, though not actually painted on the track this line is a must to learn if you wish to gain faster lap times, go astray an you can find your wheels “off” the track surface, hence the need for the schooling.

High Performance Sport Driving Day At Pacific Raceways

08 Mar 2015 Kent, WA – Spring Forward, a clock function that happens each year in all but two of the states, but it is just a clock function as the weather here in the northwest has been very spring like for the last month and yet still a couple weeks away for the official start.

This spring forward must have jump started a lot of people as a record number of cars showed up for today’s driving day – I have to say the weather played a big part. Although there are “pure” race cars who take advantage of these days the primary purpose is for those everyday driver’s and their cars going thru the ProFormance School learning the way around the 2.25 mile track.

The teachings the instructors lay out for the student’s not only show you the way around in a “lead/follow” manner but also how to control that right foot as everyone likes to go fast, but you have to do it safely.
