4-Stroke Racing Series At Pacific Raceways

4-Stroke Karts 11-1-15 09101 Nov 2015 Kent, WA – The 4-stroke karts are like the bigger cars that run in all the conditions that Mother Nature puts out have the choice of tires. This day the treadless tires started the practice session but soon gave way to the “rain tires”.

Wise choice by all as the rains came and soaked everything not protected. To race in the rain is an absolute blast when you are prepared for it, not covered with that water shedding clothing will soak you and add weight to you with that water, and racing with a weight minimum you do not want to put the additional pounds to carry around.

4-Stroke Karts 11-1-15 139Race number two in an eight race series in the books had these racers on the podium, third spot went to Sammy Barrera-Garcia, second place to Zak Bothel and atop the podium in the number one position was Ricky Arnold.

This first day of November had nothing on the docket so when the sound of a high whine and shifting to go with had to see who was creating it. JFC Racing located just down the highway was out to do some testing with a new engine powering their Wolf race car.

4-Stroke Karts 11-1-15 305This endurance setup being evaluated for an upcoming race that will last 25 hours is all about the data and how the motor works. These endurance races will push everything to the limits and the balance between how far can we push before it breaks too soon. You can build this same motor to go 8 seconds down the dragstrip or run the hours in a rally car race that are built that are at the max for what they do, handled by one driver or driver and co-pilot.

The almost constant shifting and cornering puts four drivers in the seat as one or two could never last. This unexpected chance to see this test under the rainy conditions giving both JFC information that if these conditions come up they are prepared and for and me to see and photograph what the ground effects of the Wolf as it speeds around the track. Thanks to Miles, Brian and the rest of the crew for their insight. Good Luck on the upcoming race.

4-Stroke Racing Series At Pacific Raceways

4-Stroke Race Series 8-2-15 08202 Aug 2015 Kent, WA – The first week into August is only day two and the temps are starting to rise from the high 80’s to in the 90’s.  Seattle is just not the place to think of this weather. Rain right? Everyone was hunting for shade and water to keep cool and hydrated.

The racing in the 206 light class was the one to watch as the action was hot and heavy as the karts rounded the track. A little over a minute is all it took for the winner to lap the track and bring home the trophy.

Craig Collins did this in the 206 light class while Ricky Arnold took it in 206 Heavy and Doug Huggler captured the World Formula top spot.

4-Stroke Summer Series #1 At Pacific Raceways

4-Stroke Racing Series D-300 6-7-15 09007 June 2015 Kent, WA – Kicking off the summer series for the 4-stroke karts could not have a better weather day. Blue skies and warm weather greeted everyone first thing and the temp only going up. Plenty of liquids all around to keep hydrated, too hot for food when the lunch hour came around, just drink. Have to hope that even though it is a summer series that the weather will not be like this every race. These racers endured the heat to claim the top spots on the podium, in the 206 Light class Jerrett Cangle got it and in the 206 Heavy class Troy Conrad claimed to the top and the World formula top spot went to Doug Huggler.

Final 4-Stroke Racing Series Event of The Season At Pacific Raceways

4-Stroke Racing Series 4-26-15 51126 Apr 2015 Kent, WA – Racing through the winter offers many a weather influenced preparations. No ice or snow as the track has it removed with their blowers, but it is still wet. Put the rain tires on and have at it with more grip then the dry track slicks. Going through these weather related conditions puts everyone on the same playing field and it comes down to your driving skills.

No need for the rain tires this day for the final race of the season. Mostly sunny skies put a little heat into the track surface had many a team changing their tires to better grip the track. Squealing tires could be heard throughout the rounds indicating the drivers were pushing there karts to the limits of their driving skills.

The drivers who pushed to the top of the podium today in 206 Light was Craig Collins, in the 206 Heavy class Ricky Arnold and in the World Formula class Doug Huggler claimed the top spot. For the season long race to the top these are the class winners: Kevin Janders in the 206 Light class claimed the top spot. In the 206 Heavy class Doug Huggler out pointed second place by a bunch. In a similar point differential Ken Porter claimed the World Formula title.

Congratulations to all the winners and participators in the series.

4-Stroke Fall-Winter Series Race 3-1-15 67401 Mar 2015 Kent, WA – You gotta love these late winter sunny days. Crisp and chilly in the early morning then just past mid-morning the short sleeves appear. Three classes and 30 race entries for the 4-stroke race today. Father’s and son’s and good friends push their four stroke motored karts around the PGP track for an hours practice then it’s race time. Once racing friendship goes out the window for pure competition, you want to win no matter who it is.

Lots of drivers means lots of pictures to choose from – over 800 this week! – click here to go to the album.

Three rounds of competition bring three places on the podium and here they are: World Formula had father over son Ken and Kevin Porter in that order. Rental Pro-Am & Pro League At Pacific Raceways

Rental Pro-Am and Pro League Race 2-28-15 32128 Feb 2015 Kent, WA – Bright sunshine greeted all the league racers this morning for the Pro and Pro/Am race. A total of 13 racers in the Pro class and 11 in the Pro/Am made for some great racing in both classes.

Having to look into the sun as opposed to being wrapped up in rain gear has to be a great comfort even though the glare can get you from time to time around the track. The other factor is back on the slicks instead of the rain tires, more grip ,more speed, better lap times all come to play in the dry track conditions.

Making the best of these conditions today was the following.

Pro/Am
1st. Garrett Foss
2nd. Kyle Gaston
3rd. Aaron Penn

High Performance Sport Driving Day At Pacific Raceways

High Performance Sport Driving Day 2-21-15 72422 Feb 2015 Kent, WA – Driving into the paddock area this morning it was apparent that this day was going to be about fast cars. With a host of cars from Ferrari of Seattle’s trailer of red racers. Throw in a mix from Nissan, BMW, Audi, Ford, Dodge and Chevrolet with a Viper and a bunch of Porsche’s.

Planned for the weather or not it does bring out the dry track racers though not in any form a race day but very good for testing for the upcoming events you plan to enter. With extra instructors on hand to handle the amount of students that have come out to test the 2.25 mile track surface with their Mustangs, Camaros, Chargers and exotics.

Running in what seemed to be their own race a handful of 125cc shifter karts rounded out a full day of lapping the track. At times with the high priced iron on the track it could have fit going around the Daytona track for 24 hours.

You never know who or what may show up for a HPSDD but you can bet the better the weather the better the entries. Check Pacific’s web site for the next date and come on out. A special thanks to Curt for the Daytona picture.

With the great weather conditions photographer Jim Doyle took over 750 images for you to enjoy and make purchases – click here to go to the album.

4-Stroke Fall-Winter Series Race At Pacific Raceways

4-Stroke Series 2-15-15 35315 Feb 2015 Kent, WA – The series says Fall-Winter but this was definitely a Spring- like day. Sunshine with no rain in sight will put smiles on everyone’s faces and a little bit extra pep in the step and more importantly grip on the track surface.

No driver likes using the “rain” tires, just too slow as you have to counter the forces of nature you impose on it with the kart. Love those slicks and grip that makes them work. Parity, it’s a word used in the description of how evenly matched the racers are, this was very apparent in the racing today.

With a warning at the driver’s meeting that aggression toward any competitor like blocking, pushing or swerving will be penalized, it’s not bumper cars. This information translated into some great racing no matter the class.

The bottom line really is all about your skill as a driver and understanding how to use your position on the track to gain position. Here are the driver’s whose skill showed today.

Over 500 images are now available – click here to go to the photo album for the event.

World Formula
1st – Ken Porter
