NW Bracket Shootout & ET #12 At Bremerton Raceway

NW Bracket Shootout and ET #12 6-28-15 33828 June 2015 Bremerton, WA – On any given Sunday the racing at Bremerton Raceway things go pretty much as laid out on the run schedule. Yes there are the little and mostly minor issues in nature. Nature, this is the kicker of the best laid plans. The sunny and hot weather here in the northwest is not normal and it was expected to be the same for today. Not so fast.

Just after things got going lightning appeared out of nowhere and all computer equipment is shut down for safety, racing stopped till it passed.  After starting up again the rain then decided to make an appearance, and we were stopped again. Such was the day…

Breann who came here on Mother’s Day as a student today comes here as a photography partner for the web-site. A complete complement to what is already being put on the site. Look for her shots when she is not working her other jobs.

For the few that new a family gathering was in the works in combination with a birthday. Sue Glenn who celebrated her birthday today had all the boys in one spot. Not an easy feat as Dallas who works for Jason Line’s pro stock team is on a pretty much fixed schedule and to have the time off to enjoy this family time, priceless I say.

Planned out ahead by hubby Steve and some spur of the moment once in a lifetime happening. As a gift to Sue from Bremerton Raceway she was brought to the starting line for the pleasure of being the “starter” in a race between two of her sons. I have to imagine a thrill of a lifetime for her and for the family she raised.

In the end a very happy ending to a strange race day and the winner’s that came from it.

23rd Annual Mother’s Day Nationals At Bremerton Raceway

23rd Annual Mother's Day Nationals 5-10-15 74110 May 2015 Bremerton, WA – Every year Mother’s Day brings the racers to this annual event at Bremerton Raceway. The only thing that stops the race is Mother Nature and she was happy this day,. Plenty of side by side racing to watch all day long with some surprise winners thru the rounds.

Some pretty big player’s came out to see what they might pick up. All came to win but in the end there can be only one. On that note a number of racers ended up that number one on both days of the weekend of events. Quite a feat there holding a pair of statues. Great job by those who did this.

Junior Dragster Challenge At Bremerton Raceway

Bremerton Raceway Sunday 5-3-15 57403 May 2015 Bremerton, WA – Winning at an early age can set in motion the desire to repeat what they just felt after doing so. The competitive drive is all from within. It is well documented that a lot of today’s winning drag racers started at an age while still in grade school. The Jr. Dragster drivers that came out for a chance to experience that feeling but also with that win would get you a little statue.

That statue a small version of the one’s earned at the National events. Highly prized no matter when it is won, just starting or experienced racer, a joyful scene either way.

Winning today in the Jr. Thunder class Porter Johnson smiled with the trophy. In the Jr. Lightning class Korban Lewis was the lucky one as 13 entries went after it. Other winners from today saw William Nitta come thru in MC, Gary Gandee picked up the win in Sportsman, the Pro class saw the Nova of Rob Lindley collect, Bill Vest is getting that wagon dialed in as he topped the field in Super Pro and in the Super Comp final two old friends, Dale Green and Steve Glenn in their dragster’s with Steve picking up the win by running the 8.90 number. Good job by all in today’s races.

National Dragster Challenge At Bremerton Raceway

Bremerton Raceway Saturday 5-2-15 18902 May 2015 Bremerton, WA – When the statues are on the line the racers come out. They are hard to get and when earned it is always displayed with pride. Yes there are those who have won many, and it shows that drive that it takes to get them. Many racers never win one in a lifetime of racing, but it never stopped them from trying.

Picking up the statue in the MC class is newly married William Nitta. A big class of Sportsman battled with Jason Biscay picking up another one. In a bigger number of entries the Pro final saw long time racer Ken Reaves getting the win. Jim Bruns and his ’69 Camaro raced to victory in Super Pro. Congrats to all the winners.

Easter Bunny Nationals At Bremerton Raceway

Easter Bunny Nationals 4-5-15 20205 Apr 2015 Bremerton, WA – Easter morning at Bremerton Raceway greeted everyone with bright sunshine and a chilly wind forcing everyone to put an extra layer of clothing on. After a noon lunch break the extra clothing was shed off and the weather turned things into a great day for racing.

This weekend racers and fans got a chance for a first look at the rearranged buildings at the track. All this started at the end of last season as developers are changing the landscape of the area around the track.

With a full schedule laid out for the season with what is known of the developer’s plans is quite an accomplishment with what was not known just a few short months ago.

Ending on top at the end of the race day were in Junior Thunder it was a Burkevics family final with Bobby over Charlie. In Jr. Lightning Yeshua Wilcox prevailed over Joshua Schmanke. A better light and closer to the dial got the win for Stacy Hesch over Jim Funderburg in the MC class. High School Had Jordin Howell winning over the Mustang of Thomas Neal III. Steve Adams and Brian Thompson paired off in the Sportsman class with Steve coming out on top. In the Pro class drivers Rob Lindley and Mike Hubbell squared off with Rob taking the win. The Super Pro saw a pair of heavyweights with Al Chinn and Norm Breadt going for the win. Division champ Norm tried though he could not stop Al from a doubling up on the weekend of racing at Bremerton Raceway.

Bremerton Raceway Winner’s Banquet

Bremerton Raceway Banquit 12-6-14 00106 Dec 2014 Bremerton, WA – This season’s banquet had three phases, food, awards, and then questions. Great food prepared by many started the night. I have to admit that many choices of food can fill your plate before the end of the line. As the food vanished the night moved on to the main reason for everyone being there, to hand out the well-earned awards.

Mixed in-between door prizes kept everyone looking at their tickets, as some prizes were very timely for racing operations. The end of the night brought the questions about Bremerton’s next season as developers are changing the landscape. With a lot of unknowns with too many items the season is now how to get around it and have a season. Keep up with Bremerton’s web site for more information.

Images of all the awards, and fun are now available – click here.

Season Finale At Bremerton Raceway

Season Final - ND Challange - NOS. Tour #6 10-5-14 38305 Oct 2014 Bremerton, WA – The end of the season gave everyone a last look of the race track for 2014. Development in the area will alter the entry and layout next season when it gets going. With many things to move just to clear the way for progress some ingenuity will be needed along with all the help they can muster on a daunting task.

If you have skills and or equipment to lend a hand give them a call. For this last race day things could not be better in the weather department, sunny 70 degree temperature slight wind perfect.

Over 130 racers filled the grounds after the “Wallys” at the end of racing. Hard to get these trophies so a win means a lot to those who get one. Hoisting these prize pieces today are:

K&N ET Series #12 At Bremerton Raceway

K&N ET Series # 12 - NHUA 9-28-14 56128 Sep 2014 Bremerton, WA – Sunday morning the last race of the E.T. series at Bremerton Raceway greeted everyone with a blanket of fog thick enough to drip off the surfaces it attached to. Cold enough to see your breath with a chill that brought out many a sweatshirt and coats to keep warm. Big change to yesterday’s all day sunshine.

Racing into a headwind that blew the flags to a position of complete visible sight as to the normal hanging pose on their poles. The chilly temperature and a grippy starting line put a number of cars on their rear bumpers. When the fog layer lifted and the sun warmed the final race played out with NHUA running their classes.

Street Legal & 100 MPH Club At Bremerton Raceway

Street Legals - 100 MPH Club 9-27-14 46427 Sep 2014 Bremerton, WA – If it can drive on the streets, this is your chance to drive it on the strip. This race day it makes no difference: car, bike or truck. Pass tech and you are on to seeing what you think your times might be for a quarter mile pass, has to be a thrill for those first time racers.

Added to the mix on this fine sunny Saturday was mix of regular racers tuning for the race the following day. For those watching a wide range of race action to take in.

Lots of great shots – get your copies of your car on the dragstrip – click here to go to the album.

In the NHUA action James Taggart came closer to the 12.00 sec. target over Pete Conley in Real Street. Rick Secrist singled in Modified Street as did Wally Friedlander in Outlaw 8.5. In Heavy Street action Derek Losey’s ’67 Camaro bested Dick Ewing’s ’58 Corvette. In Non-Electronics Robert Steffen ran closer to his dial to beat Jim Funderberg and on the Electronics side Jeremy Sears got it when Duane Fielder fouled. The Full Throttle Shootout decided at the starting line as William Vest gave it to Ted Sailly on the foul.
