West Coast Grudge at Pacific Raceways

16 June 2019 Kent, WA – A West Coast Grudge weekend with a Swift Tool Series in between them, and the show did not disappoint all those racers and spectators alike. The prizes are getting bigger and so is the entries to claim those dollars.

The word of mouth and the presence on social media and its reach is drawing more from outside the Puget Sound region. With a car count that could be had with your two hands to know having a 16-car field to give those fans a full day of “heads up” and “instant” green racing.

Outlasting the field in the MOB 275 class Shaun Friedlander picked up the prize and what can be said about Nick Duda and that blue Vette that just seems to run on a string keeping his “West Coast King” position.

If you are into heads up and wheels up racing check out their next race on July 13th.

On that note I would like to thank Mike Weiss for the photo op, the track crew for all your fun and the management and owners of Pacific Raceways for all their support through out the years.

Images are in two albums – one for Friday, and one for Sunday’s action – click here to go to the photo gallery.

With that See It Imagery is signing off from Pacific and the West Coast, something will pop up in the coming months.

Swift Tools ET Series #3 & West Coast Grudge at Pacific Raceways

04 May 2019 Kent, WA – Thank You Mother Nature!

After raining out the first two races of the season it was nothing but sunshine for all those attending event #3 of the Swift Tools ET Series.

Really only the first time the Swift Tool sponsored series racers get down the track to earn points towards a number of “carrots” at the end of the season. Time trials got underway on a well prepped track by the drag crew put new numbers on their time slips to check if the improvements made over the winter worked.

For those bringing out new to them race rides in “all” the series classes will not only bring in new blood but will develop new relationships amongst the “family” that drag racing is all about.

Race number #3 class winners are in Junior Street O’Riley Benda, Kaitlin Smith in High School, Bailey Benda in Jr, Storm, Luke Cavar in Jr. Lightning, Dustin Ridge in Jr. Thunder, track champ Kevin Renick defending his title in Super Pro, Mike Driscoll in Pro, Craig Smith takes the trophy in Sportsman and William “Bill” Nitta on his ’08 Hayabusa out rode the rest in Motorcycle.

On a side note to the MC class for the first time that I can remember a “snow mobile” made it a true BIKE/SLED class, great to see.

Tying into the series race the West Coast Grudge racers brought their growing list of racers ready to attack the “instant green” and quick 1/8th mile races. Willy and his crew have done an outstanding job of promoting and leading the way on this quickly growing series and its followers. Local racer Lane Cavar is “all in” and it showed with the show he put on with a smooth, wheels up launch carrying the front off the track farther than any previous runs and putting that laundry holder on the rear some work. Very impressive indeed.

West Coast Grudge Season Ends With A Bonus

13 Oct 2018 Kent, WA – The West Coast Grudge Series ended their 2018 season with a bonus day of racing. The last date was added after the last race was rained out and it turned out to be a great move for the racers and spectators alike.

Pairing up with a test and tune date already on the docket brought over 200 entries eager to hit the instant green and 1/8th mile distance, and many hit speeds over 150 mph.

A huge thing for the series is the spectators that come out and watch these wicked machines do battle – the stands filled with more people than all the previous dates put together, it was great to see that and I am sure that the great weather that “Mother Nature” provided helped.

To all those involved in bringing this series to the northwest, Congrats to all your hard earned efforts and a job well done. From an idea born from Mike Bader and Dave Stolz and grabbed by the horns, Willy Peterson and his gang have built a series that will continue to evolve as the years go by.

We will see more and more bad fast cars and trucks to the Northwest and “Instant Green” racing.

Over 500 great images of these amazing cars are now available – click here to go to the photo album.  As always thank you for your support and purchases!!

WINNERS
Mike Thielen in Outlaw 10.5
Daniel Rodrique in Skinny
Dan Hermann in Stick

West Coast Grudge #4 at Pacific Raceways

10 Aug 2018 Kent, WA – Race number four in the five-race season for the grudge runners brought out the big players for the $5,000.00 purse posted for this race.

From its humble beginnings last year, the series has grown to a serious contender for heads up 1/8th mi. racing. Under the guidance of Willy Petersen who took this program by the horns has brought in sponsors who support the program and a whole host of helpers to keep things going.

Still in the build stage and a sponsor from the git go Randy Parker of “Parkers Race Shop” brought out his bright green Dodge truck to test the “instant green” tree that puts a reaction to it at the front of winning or losing.

Add to this the “luck” factor that can and will happen when it’s your night as Nick Duda can attest to as it aided him to grab the cash in the finals, not a bad payday for just a few full runs.

Last race of the season is on a Sunday September 16th, BE THERE.

Lots of great images – the light was amazing tonight – click here to go to the photo album.

West Coast Grudge Racing #3 at Pacific Raceways

13 July 2018 Kent, WA – It was race number three of the five dates at Pacific Raceways for the WCG and the high-powered race cars they bring to the strip. The high powered cars only run to the 1/8th mile and do it quickly.

There are two groups divided into two groups by a 10 second quarter mile time, group A-slower, group B-faster and a class for the bikes. Add into this a “small” tire shootout that most all could “fry” the tires the whole 1/8th mile, so putting that much horsepower to a small tire is a science at best.

This day tested all though as high temperatures and a bit muggy air had liquid in many forms in people’s hands. Add the date to the mix and near middle of summer many racers and their family might be at a lake somewhere and those that are superstitious not testing the date doing something else.

The Next date for the West Coast Grudge Series is August 10th. See you there!

West Coast Grudge Continues To Grow

15 June 2018 Kent, WA – What came together last year from two guys with an idea for some grudge type racing in the northwest is growing by leaps and bounds. Under the guidance of Willy Peterson and family and a host of others the car count and range of grudge racers and their followers are filling in the lanes and grandstands.

This is just race number 2 of 5 set for this season, and it shows the interest of heads up and instant green racing. With a bunch of racers still building cars for just this event it really shows how this type of “safe” street kind of racing is growing in the northwest.

As I was tasked to cover a charity event at the kart track I could not spend a lot of time this night but am looking forward to the next event on July 13th.

West Coast Grudge Racing #1 at Pacific Raceways

18 May 2018 Kent, WA -From an Idea to Reality, this series was thought of by a pair of guys, then with the help of a few more and after that it was taken up by Willy and Jen Peterson. Friday night kicked off a five race series this season and brought at least 50 entries to take part in side by side instant green starts.

On the anniversary of Mt. Saint Helens eruption could this series explode with many more taking part? Only time will tell but they are off to a great start. Next race is June 15th.

Images of these ultra-cool cars are now available – click here to go to the photos.
